The update button on the notification bar downloads exe installer instead of deb (or tar.xz).
The bug (?) exists actually since an earlier build.

Same with slimjet_i386.deb (4.0.1.0) - Debian Jessie (Debian 8) i386

While context menus on the browser frame and the UIs (tab title bar , address bar, addon bar and bookmark bar) are working, they are not showing up inside the tab i.g. on webpages.

After upgrading to 4.0.0.0 Beta Slimjet does not start anymore.
This is the terminal log when starting Slimjet via command:

Same here. Confirmed on Debian 7.8 i386 (32 bit) and Debian 7.8 amd64 (64 bit)

Slimjet version is 2.1.6.

slimjet://settings is just keeping showing a blank page with such a tab title "loading..." since fresh install.
No flags are changed, no extension is installed.
