Steps to take before installing 64 bit with existing 32bit?

Post by tonguetwister »

Very happy, satisfied user of the current 32-bit version of Slimjet. Am considering trying out the 64-bit version but am unclear as to what preliminary steps are most recommended, meaning, does one download/install the 64-bit version over the existing 32-bit, or should they use Slimjet's built in uninstaller to remove only program files and not data and settings?

If memory serves, the 64 bit will install into a different folder and use the same profile as the 32 bit. The most trouble I've had has been telling the Shortcuts apart as they are exactly the same with the same title. So, possibly the only thing you need to do is rename your 32 bit shortcut before installation of the 64 so you can easily tell them apart.

Keep in mind there is little noticeable benefit to using the 64 bit, and it will chew up a lot more RAM than the 32.

Mostly my replies are about Windows OS. If not I try to remember to specify Linux.
