should I reinstall slimjet every time new update is released?

Post by lalagida »

I already set slimjet to check update always, and notify me of beta version release.

but whenever I open the browser or manually check for update, it says there's no new version available.

I am now running 21.0.8.0 32bit version and on the official website there's no update installer, instead full version installer to download.

please tell me what I should do.

here's what i do , i click the cog on the right in the toolbar scroll down to "help center" then to "what's new" i click that , takes you here https://www.slimjet.com/en/whatisnew.php i see if a new version is up then click download on that page which takes you here https://www.slimjet.com/en/dlpage.php which has the new downloads , the latest version one is
Stable Release ( 22.0.4.0 ) i then use the Web installer ( 0.34MB , 2019-03-13 )link which will automatically install that version ...on both pages there is a link to download older versions which is always handy too :)

Same problem. Mine didn't see the beta release available, this time round and after I installed it it has not seen any of the minor updates to it. Very annoying always having to manually take a look for an update (or wait until someone in the forum mentions it which doesn't happen every time).

Well the 22.0.4 it's suppose to be the stable(final) version, not even beta and the updater doesn't see any new updates even when checking manually.
How do you explain that???????
In situations like this one i'm kind of hesitant to update,it's obviously something is wrong, maybe there are still issues that needs to be ironed down and that's why DEV didn't pushed the update yet.Or who knows what else could be.
The bottom line is that the lack of any communications between the DEV(s) and the community here is such a turn down. What's with the secrecy,is he working for NSA or something? Such a bull if you ask me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

• Your post is a close to a troll as I will allow without deletion or editing of your post. Relax a bit. Remember this is a user to user help forum. It is not a user to developer or developer to user channel of communication. Please stay on topic with your replies in this forum.
• There have been random problems with updates not being automatically notified since the beginning of Slimjet. It is not a major issue that foreshadows impending doom. If, for any reason, you don't want to update... then don't. I'm going to update no matter what you do.

• DEV is the name of a user on this forum. If your referring or going to refer to the developer of Slimjet he is typically referred to as "Flashpeak" or "the developer". Using "Dev" ends up confusing a lot of users since that user is not the Slimjet developer.
• Now as to your statement, "that's why DEV didn't pushed the update yet". That statement is false. The statement is also inflammatory. Please avoid wild speculation. The goal on a user to user forum is for people to be contributors not detractors. The developer has pushed the ver 22 updates. He would not have pulled it out of Beta and put it up on the download page of the website or shown it in "What's New", if he wasn't satisfied with his bench test results. Doing those things means he is pushing it out.

This is not true either. There is no possibility that a newly released out of Beta version of any program in existence will come out of Beta without some issues showing up as users upload and start using. Not even the giants in the industry are capable of running their software on every possible hardware configuration before releasing out of beta. There are and will always be problems that come up once software starts running on more machines than developers have access to. This is why developers have methods for feedback to learn about the issues and prioritize addressing them.

.....stop being lazy :P your the one person on here that should check it manually  joking aside It's never been spot on with automated notifications since day one has it hence i finally switched it off saves me any troubles from an automatic update and just check it manually nowadays
